Remember that animals can become aggressive.  Bears, squirrels, chipmunks, rabbits, raccoons, opossums, skunks, woodchucks, mice, and deer are often attracted to game feeders. Bears and raccoons can be particularly aggressive.

Laws vary from state to state on wildlife feeding issues. If you have questions or concerns about feeders for wildlife, check with your state's Department of Natural Resources or Conservation Department before taking any action.  Also, verify feeder regulations for your area with your local Game and Fish Regulatory agency.

Feeders may also attract wildlife species you may not want to feed such as bears, hogs, and squirrels.  Feeder design, placement and the type of food can help deter unwanted species.
