Scagel
Knife - 1932
This is the knife
W.D."Bo" Randall saw L.H. Steinman using to scrape paint
off of a boat in Michigan. This tough yet beautiful knife
inspired Bo Randall to begin making custom knives of his own
design. When he returned to Orlando, he set out to duplicate the
Scagel knife using an automobile suspension leaf spring for the blade
and an elk horn for the handle. This knife is the forerunner to the
current day Model 3 Hunter design. This knife with "L.H. Steinman"
etched on the blade is on display at the Randall Museum along with a
variety of other fine Scagel knives.

About: William Scagel
William "Bill" Scagel was virtually unknown to most American knife
collectors for many years. However, the name "Scagel" has become an
everyday term to knife collectors today. He was one of the greatest
knifemakers of the 20th century. It was a Scagel knife that inspired Bo
Randall to begin making custom knives. The collection of Scagel knives
in the Randall Musuem led collectors to begin searching out knives with
the Famous Scagel trademark.
