W.R. Case & Sons Cutlery Co. has handcrafted knives since 1889. These are high quality knives. Case Tru-sharp surgical stainless steel. This popular blade material is a special high-carbon stainless cutlery steel. Tru-sharp blades hold an edge longer than conventional steel, and offer extraordinary blade strength and resist corrosion.

J.R. Case. “Russ” as close friends and relatives fondly called him, managed Case Cutlery from the formation of the company in 1902 until his death in 1953.

The Case name follows true today. The Case XX is explained by the folks at Case as follows:

"It was first scratched onto blade pans. And later, stamped onto the blades themselves. "XX". Simple proof that a blade had been properly tempered and tested not once but twice. Today, you can still find this famous "XX" mark on a Case blade. And it still means what it did around the turn of the century. That at Case, were willing to take the extra time needed to do things right. In fact, that's our pledge. And we stamp it on every knife we make."
